i have been hacked in past. here is my suggestions and you will never get hacked again.

1. install two hard drives in your system or if you can boot with two different logical drives from same hard disk then its ok. but separate hard disk is best. you can also use second hard drive for backup purpose.

2. use one hard drive to do all research work. means visiting unknown website, email reading, visiting hyip sites, etc. you can say this "risky" hard drive.

3. use second hard drive just to open e-gold account and email that is registered with e-gold account. don't use this hard drive to do any other task. just only e-gold account. or any other bank account that you are trusted. you can say this "safe" website.

4. use at least two e-gold accounts. one account that is master account where your money is placed. you can say this "safe" account. and one investment account to invest in hyips, etc. you can say this "risky" account.

5. open your "safe" e-gold account on safe hard drive only. never open this account on "risky" hard drive. just open this account from "safe" hard drive and transfer required amount to "risky" e-gold account to make investment.

6. always invest from "risky" hard drive and use "risky" e-gold account to make investment. this way your "risky" e-gold account will be empty most of the time. nothing to lose.

7. just transfer all your withdrawals from "risky" account to "safe" account.

if you do this practice. you don't need to change passwords, install heavy loaded firewalls, worried about trojans/viruses. i do this and my e-gold account is safe from months and i never changed my password after this practice. you will feel a little bit extra work but for safety of your e-gold account this is not bad.

That really does sound like a lot of extra work involved there, johnmichael, but it obviously works for you.

Personally I think that taking sensible precautions goes a long way to preventing account hacking, the usual stuff like not opening links contained in e-mails, using the same passwords for various accounts, particularly the one for e-mail and then using the same for any other.

Having said that, I have read of some people who actually use 2 computers, pretty much as you have described in your post. One for the `risky` and the other for the `less risky.`

At any rate, we all owe it to ourselves to keep our online dealings secure, so thanks for your reminders and suggestions. app# The villains will always try to keep one step ahead.

Just an observation: hackers are always looking for people who post screen shots that provide egold information. They also like to hack egolders sript, so if you are involved in programs with the egolders script be careful with compounding your funds. If you aren't sure, you should check with the admin, and if they are using egolder script, then find out if they have separate accounts for investment and payout funds, at least 2, if not 3 accounts.

That does seem to be alot of work to keep your account safe.. but i guess whatever works for you is the best. I myself just have 1 account.. never been hacked never been scared about it really (maybe its because it has never been hacked) Or maybe im just really lucky:)

My secret.. none really.. just dont open obvious emails from e-gold with links or no links.. Why? its coz e-gold from the start said they will not for any reason contact you to ask for your account details and such. So if you get an email from e-gold other than the pin access code just erase the email. Next is have a good firewall to keep the snoopers away... and scan your system regularly.. twice or three times a week... a good program is Mcafee and AVG!

It is the egolders script that has more potential for hackers then one's egold account. This is why it is good to check with an admin running the script to determine precautions against hackers the admin has taken and perhaps use more than 1 egold account to payout, and/or to accept payments. However, hackers have been 'reported' to have gotten into the scripts control panel to access individual member accounts and w/d their compounding spends. It does not involve one's egold account necessarily, but can. That most definitely depends on ones' egold account security settings.
