While I was having a look around the Microsoft site, I noticed this point about Pop-ups.

Step 4: Block Pop-Up Windows in Your Browser

To help protect your computer from malicious pop-up windows in your browser, use a utility that prevents them from opening. Some Web sites use these small browser windows to display advertisements, and in some cases, offensive content. Malicious attackers also may use pop-up windows disguised as ads or offers to install malicious code on your computer.

A popup blocker is a utility you can add to your browser that prevents these windows from opening. Many pop-up blockers are compatible with Internet Explorer, including the free MSN toolbar.

So I downloaded theirs which now makes my security just that little bit tighter. Having said that I very rarely got any pop-ups anyway, possible because they are prevented by my Norton system.

I was going to say I thought you were a Norton User and this has always stopped pop ups for me .
Most up to date Firewalls are also configured so you can stop these offensive annoyances also.

I always thought about the aspect of their being annoying, but it wasn`t until I read the info from Microsoft properly that I realized they could also be used for more sinister purposes.

As the pop-up blocker is now on my msn toolbar (and records the number of ads blocked) I can see whether any are getting past my Norton.

same here i hate popups, but after installing adsgone and sp2 pack no more problems. Works like a charm =) every single popup is blocked been using it for the past weeks and theres no problems. I recommend you all to try it also. although sometimes it blocks off some links that you are trying to enter and that is annoying. But otherwise it's worth it to try out. less chance of getting a virus also and spyware

It's about time that Microsoft made this update. They have been one of the only browsers without a popup blocker for years.

Tsk, just use Opera and set Prefs/Windows/Block unwanted popups. No hassle with Exploder anything and you have much more secure browsing anyway.
