This is more frustrating than a serious problem.

When I first got Vista my modem wouldn`t work, so I had to get another driver for it to connect to the Internet.

Since then I`ve changed my ISP, and now have a router.

Everytime I first switch the computer on though I get a message saying my driver isn`t compatable, which message I then have to close. Is it possible for me to remove that driver, which is of no use anyway?

This is for Vista:

You can either go to "Programs and Features" (which is in the Control Panel) and uninstall it from there, or if it's just the driver you want to remove you can go to device management, and delete the modem. (This will leave any software still running, which is probably what the message you are getting comes from.)

To remove a device:

Go to the start menu, click on Run, and then type in devmgmt.msc and click OK. (Authorise yourself if you have UAC still running)

Then you can select the modem and either press the delete key, or choose the uninstall icon (the one with the big red X)
